Board of Directors Meet for March
The Board of Directors for the Council of Industry held their bi-monthly meeting on Thursday, March 10 to review Council business and plan a course for the coming months. They were joined by Jonathan Drapkin, the president of Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, to discuss his organization’s work related to education, workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure. The Board expressed particular interest in K-12 education, hoping to spur greater interest in manufacturing and engineering among students. Several possibilities were brainstormed, that varied from arranging field trips to local manufacturers to lobbying districts to hire more high school guidance counselors focused solely on helping students plan their career path. Other topics discussed included the upcoming Lobby Day on March 15, and the Council’s magazine.
