Unsurprisingly many economic indicators hit historic and troubling records as the economic damage globally from the COVID-19 pandemic grows. Here are some of the record-breaking numbers from last week:

White House Extends Social-Distancing Guidelines Until End of April
President Trump said he was extending the administration’s social-distancing guidelines for another 30 days through the end of April.
Mr. Trump, speaking at a news conference in the White House Rose Garden, said the peak of the death rate from the new coronavirus was expected to hit in two weeks. Mr. Trump predicted the country would be on its way to recovery by June 1.
“Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before victory is won,” he said. “It’s very important that everybody strongly follow the guidelines.”

Governor Cuomo Announces “NYS on Pause” Functions Extended for an Additional Two Weeks
Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced all NYS On Pause functions will be extended for the next two weeks. The Governor also directed the state nonessential workforce to continue to work from home for an additional two weeks through April 15th. The state will re-evaluate after this additional two-week period.
