About The Council

The Council of Industry has been the manufacturer’s association for the Hudson Valley since 1910. We are a privately funded not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to promote the success of our member firms and their employees, and through them contribute to the success of the Hudson Valley Community. To fulfill this mission, the Council provides:

Training Programs

The Council of Industry has provided management training for manufacturers for more than fifty years. We are continually improving the content and direction of our training by keeping close contact with the needs of our members.

Manufacturing Leadership Certificate

Teamed with Dutchess Community College, this program includes a two day course entitled, “Fundamentals of Leadership” followed by various one day courses. Click this link to learn more - Council of Industry - Certificate in Manufacturing Leadership.

Hudson Valley Consortium Training

The Council of Industry and a consortium of six Hudson Valley Community Colleges (Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester) are able to use a grant by the State University of New York to subsidize training for Hudson Valley Manufacturers. Refresher Training

Sub-Council Networks

The Council of Industry offers numerous networking opportunities for members in various professions. The Environmental Health and Safety Sub-council discuss issues of interest to compliance managers, the Human Resources Sub-council discusses employment policies and practices and the Executives Network tours member facilities and discusses topics vital to manufacturers. Survey Data

Annual surveys of the wage, salary and benefit practices of the members are complied. These surveys provide a benchmark for member firm’s personnel policies as well as a picture of regional trends. The Council will also poll its members on various topics at any time at the request of any member.

Events

Workers Compensation Program — The Council of Industry Board of Directors have endorsed a workers’ compensation & employer’s liability program for our membership from Applied Underwriters and The Reis Group. The program is group based but individually underwritten. Underwriting criteria is very strict and only those members most committed to a safe workplace will be able to participate. Most of our members will meet these strict criteria and we therefore believe this program will result in significant savings to those who choose to participate.
